COMMUNITY ART WORKSHOP
LETTER TO THE EARTH with JANA LAIZ
Saturday, April 7th | 1:30 – 3:30PM

Emily Dickinson said it so well:

This is my letter to the world,
Who never wrote to me –
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majesty.

Come and spend a few hours writing a letter, note or poem to Mother Earth and creating a Vision Board of your vision for our planet. We will display our art/letters at the opening of the art show.

Open to anyone who loves our planet and wants to celebrate it! Art & Writing can bring change! No writing or art experience necessary, just a love of Mother Earth!

Bring magazines, glue sticks and your favorite writing utensil.

RSVP – Space is limited

Free!

WRITING WORKSHOP with JENNIFER BROWDY
Navigating Climate Change in Uncertain Times: The Elemental Journey of Purposeful Memoir as a Path to Personal, Political and Planetary Thriving

Saturday, April 14th | 3 PM5 PM | $35

Through an inspiring, thought-provoking discussion and writing workshop, Jennifer Browdy, Ph.D. guides participants to explore a central question for anyone who is aware of the promise and peril of our current moment: how can I become a strong link between past and future, rising to the personal, political and planetary challenges of our time in ways that are at once grounded, fluid, fiery and wise?

Inspiration will be drawn from the work of writer-activists like Wangari Maathai, Thich Nhat Hanh, Llewelyn Vaughn-Lee, Terry Tempest Williams and Joanna Macy, and Jennifer will share the unique framework she has developed for what she calls “the elemental journey of purposeful memoir”: using the four elements (Earth, Water, Fire and Air) to explore the stages of life experience, looking back at the past in order to better understand the present and envision the future we want to live into.

Bring your notebook and pen, and an open mind & heart!

This event is part of the Berkshire Earth Day Expo; all proceeds will benefit The Berkshire Environmental Action Team. Register here.

TIME TO CHOOSE film screening

Saturday, April 14th | 6:30 PM | Free – donations accepted to be sent directly to Puerto Rico

Academy award-winning documentary filmmaker Charles Ferguson’s most recent film TIME TO CHOOSE takes audiences on a breathtaking global journey to explore the comprehensive scope of the climate change crisis. The film shows the powerful solutions that are available and the entrepreneurs, change-makers and ordinary people who are helping to deploy these solutions. Most importantly, TIME TO CHOOSE delivers a message of empowerment and action – the solutions to climate change are here and that we all have the power to choose what kind of world we want to live in.

Entrance is free with donations greatly welcomed. All proceeds from donations will be sent to communities in Puerto Rico struggling to recover from Hurricane Maria. Manos Unidas held another fundraiser for Puerto Rico on January 23rd during which they raised $5,500 that was delivered directly to victims of Hurricane Maria by former resident of Puerto Rico and co-founder of Manos Unidos Con Puerto Rico, Miriam Orengo.
