Winter Tree Identification Walk in Ashfield’s Belding Memorial Park

March 15, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

BEAT will lead a free winter tree identification walk at Belding Memorial Park in Ashfield on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 AM. This informative and engaging event will last approximately 1.5 hours and will involve slow-paced stops along the way. Participants will be outdoors for the duration of the walk, so appropriate attire for winter weather is recommended.

Winter offers a unique opportunity to learn tree and shrub identification, as the absence of leaves reveals features that are often overlooked during other seasons. On this guided walk, participants will learn to identify trees by examining twigs, bark, and overall structure—characteristics that are visible even when trees are bare. Led by a local naturalist and tree enthusiast, the walk will include tips and tricks for recognizing tree species, whether in winter or throughout the year.

This event, organized in collaboration with the Ashfield Parks Commission, is free and open to the public. However, space is limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their spot by emailing chelsey@thebeatnews.org as soon as possible. Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your connection with nature, even in the colder months!
