Inaugural Hoosic River Run: 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk Fundraiser
INAUGURAL HOOSIC RIVER RUN: 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk Fundraiser
Morning Events:
1) 8AM: Hoosic River Run: 5k Race & 1-Mile Walk. This event is hosted by Hoosic River Revival in
partnership with the City of North Adams and timed by Berkshire Running Center.
2) 8-9AM: River-inspired music premiere occurs at the walk turnaround located in Western Gateway
Heritage State Park on the deck of Berkshires’ Academy for Advanced Musical Studies (BAAMS).
BAAMS students will debut an original score and lyrics that they dedicated to the Hoosic River. Along
with faculty and alumni, they will also play improvised race-themed movie scores to motivate runners
3) 9-9:30AM: Race-awards ceremony.
SCHEDULE:
• HRR Founder Judy Grinnell and City of North Adams Mayor Jennifer Macksey will sound the starting
gun for the Hoosic River Run race;
• Then, based on the HRR companion online silent auction “Confluence Of Two” from June 6-20,
local VIPs are paired to lead the 1 mile walk with winning bidders. The VIPs include: North Adams
Mayor Jennifer Macksey, HRR Founder Judy Grinnell; City Councilor and Steeple City Social
Co-Founder Andrew Fitch; HRR commissioned architects Tessa Kelly and Chris Parkinson of Group
Work; MASS MoCA exhibiting & resident artist Alison Pebworth; BAAMS founding musician and
teacher Richard Boulger; MCLA Professor of Art, artist and author Melanie Mowinski; farmer,
designer, chef and STATE Restaurateur Tu Le; Baystate Hospitality Group Partner Colleen Taylor;
• During the walk, hear BAAMS students debut original music dedicated to the Hoosic River;
• HRR President Nancy Bullett will present the race awards.
