Housatonic Heritage Walks 2025

Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area invites you to explore the wonders of this region during Heritage Walks 2025 over five weekends: September 6 & 7, September 13 & 14, September 20 & 21, September 27 & 27, and October 4 & 5.
Historians, naturalists and environmentalists will be your guide as you explore the Upper Housatonic Valley and surrounding area.
- Learn about the history of the villages and towns in the region as expressed in archaeological and industrial sites, architecture, bridges and monuments.
- Discover both prominent and unsung geological, ornithological and horticultural resources.
- Enjoy splendid autumn foliage and scenic vistas as you explore the rich historical, cultural and natural heritage of the Upper Housatonic Valley.
Please Remember – wear sturdy footwear for those ‘Walks’ that include trail hikes and outdoor trekking, bring a water bottle/beverage to stay hydrated, bring insect repellent if you’re hiking outside, read the Heritage Walks description carefully – some require pre-registration!

10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: The History of Indian Town, Stockbridge, MA
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Hike Around the Berkshire National Fish Hatchery, New Marlborough, MA
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Great Barrington’s Architecture & History – The Story of Great Buildings in a Great Town, Great Barrington, MA
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM: 1-Hour Tours of the Beckley Blast Furnace – CT’s Dedicated Iron Industrial Monument, East Canaan, CT
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Hike to Campbell Falls – Waterfalls, Watersheds and Natural History of the Berkshires, New Marlborough, MA
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: A Biographical Cemetery Tour of Sharon, CT
