HOOSIC RIVER REVIVAL MEDIA ALERT: HOOSIC RIVER FLOAT

WHO: The Hoosic River Revival which is dedicated to the modernization of the North Adams flood control system and the development of the Hoosic River as one of its community assets.

WHAT: A scenic kayak/canoe float on the Hoosic River, followed by a community gathering at Brown’s Brewing.

SCHEDULE:
● Participants should meet at 12:00 PM just upstream of the Green Road Bridge in Petersburgh, NY. From there, vehicles will be shuttled to the takeout point on Highway 22 just outside Hoosick Falls, NY. Once drivers return, the float will launch.
● The river float will last approximately 3 hours. Anticipate arriving at the takeout by 4:30 PM, where return shuttles to Green Road Bridge will be available as needed.
● Afterward, join for the Post-Float Gathering at Brown’s Brewing from 5:30–7:30 PM, where food and drink will be available for purchase.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
● Bring your own canoe or kayak (no tubes) and a life jacket—required by law. Pack your own food and drinks for the river. All participants must sign a waiver at the launch site. Minors (12+) must be accompanied by an adult.
● Basic paddling ability and moderate fitness are required; low water may require short portages.
● If weather or river conditions are unsafe, the float will be canceled, but the Post-Float Gathering at Brown’s Brewing will proceed as planned. Registrants will be notified via email.
