Breeding Bird Season, with Ben Nickley

The migration may be over, but breeding has begun! Join New Marlborough Land Trust with Ben Nickley, Executive Director of the Berkshire Bird Observatory, as he guides a walk at Thousand Acre Swamp. Learn where to find different species of breeding birds and how to find and observe their nests. Wear sturdy shoes, bug protection, and don’t forget your binoculars!

LOCATION: Thousand Acre Swamp

Directions to Thousand Acre Swamp: from the center of Southfield Village, turn east (uphill) on East Hill Road and proceed two miles to the intersection with Hotchkiss Road. Turn right onto Hotchkiss and follow about a mile to a small parking loop at the Land Trust trailhead, where Hotchkiss Road makes a sharp turn to the right. If coming from the south, take Norfolk Road to the intersection with Hotchkiss Road. Turn right onto Hotchkiss and proceed about one and a half miles to the Land Trust trailhead, on the right, where Hotchkiss makes a sharp turn to the left.
