This free event is your chance to connect with professional land stewards, an estate planning attorney, and a property owner who has firsthand experience in conserving their land. You’ll learn how to protect parts of your land, reduce financial burdens, and access valuable resources to help you achieve your goals.

Panelists:

  • Paul Catanzaro – UMass Professor and State Extension Forester. Paul integrates research and outreach to help Massachusetts family forest owners navigate conservation-based estate planning. His work provides landowners with critical conservation and stewardship options and resources, including the Massachusetts Keystone Project and the MassWoods website.
  • Nick Pitel – Conservation Director at Berkshire Natural Resources Council (BNRC). With a background in forest ecology and management, Nick has developed conservation plans for landowners and stewarded protected lands. He brings years of experience working with farm and forest owners, as well as his expertise as a licensed forester.
  • Steve Pagnotta – Estate Planning Attorney at Donovan & O’Connor, LLP. Steve specializes in helping private landowners with estate planning to ensure their property is preserved according to their wishes and family goals.
  • Richard Clapper – Berkshire-based landowner who has successfully gone through the process of placing his property under conservation restrictions. Richard will share his personal experience and the benefits of conserving land for future generations.
