Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

April 26, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Embrace the arrival of Spring with a deep dive into the fascinating world of fungi with Williamstown Rural Lands! In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mushroom cultivation, including how to inoculate logs, wood chips, and stumps.  Cover key fungal biology and learn practical, easy-to-learn techniques for growing your own mushrooms. By the end of the class, you’ll have a solid understanding of six wild mushroom species, three cultivation methods, and a wealth of intriguing fungal knowledge to share with others.

Willie Crosby is the owner of Fungi Ally and has been growing mushrooms indoors and outdoors for over nine years. He works to reveal the power of mushrooms by educating people how to incorporate mushrooms into their gardens and lives. Willie teaches online for Stockbridge School of Agriculture and Cornell as well as in person at his farm in Hadley, Mass., and for UMass-Amherst.

Registration is required. The fee is $30 for members and $35 for non-members, which covers the cost of the 2-hour class plus an inoculated log for you to bring home!
