EPA To Hold Housatonic River Workshops

The EPA has announced that it will be holding mini workshops in response to public requests for more information related to the cleanup of PCBs from the Housatonic River. The three mini workshops and one day-long charrette will also provide the public with an opportunity to provide input into the decision-making process. The workshops will be held at Shakespeare & Company at 70 Kemble Street, Lenox.

Mini Workshop 1: Tuesday, April 5 5:30-8:30pm
Why working with River Processes Matters: Housatonic History, Ecology, and PCBs

Mini Workshop 2: Wednesday, April 6 5:30-8:30pm
Getting the Facts on PCBs: Human Health Risks, Ecological Risks, and PCBs in the Housatonic River

Mini Workshop 3: Thursday, April 7 5:30-8:30pm
Exploring Alternatives for Cleanup: Remediation, Restoration, Alternatives, and Environmentally Sensitive Remediation Concepts

Public Charrette – The Community Contributes: Saturday, May 7 8:30am-5:30pm
A Practical, Hands-On Workshop for the Community to Better Understand the “Rest of River” Issues, to Explore the Pros and Cons of the Proposed Alternatives, and for the EPA to Hear the Community’s Ideas

  1. You missed two very informative and interesting workshops, Rick. I thought the moderator said that a video of each workshop and the slides from the presentations would be on the EPA website the day following the workshop, which should mean that both workshops are on the website already, but I don’t see them there (http://www.housatonicworkshops.org/videos.html). Technical difficulties maybe?

  2. I couldn’t make it to the first two sessions.
    I read on the EPA site that they would record the sessions this week.
    There should be links to the recorded sessions. Now.
