Working Lands/Working Hands: Bigfoot Farm – WRL Series

July 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Sunday, July 10 | 10:00 AM

Williamstown Rural Lands (WRL), a private non-profit, member-supported land conservation trust, invites you to a free farm tour at Bigfoot Farm at Sweetbrook Farm, 580 Oblong Rd, Williamstown, MA, on Sunday, July 10th at 10:00 AM.

Learn how farmer Brian Cole produces a diversity of amazing veggies using sustainable farming techniques. Now in his fifth year on one acre of leased farmland, Brian has made tremendous strides in learning what it takes to achieve economic success farming at a micro-scale.

While touring his farm, poking at plants, and maybe pulling a weed or two, you can ask a thousand questions. Brian will discuss soil management, crop sequencing, and pest and weed control using organic methods.

Curious about how to farm if you do not own farmland? Brian will share his experience as a tenant farmer and discuss what we can do to promote working rural landscapes and livelihoods.

This farm tour is part of the Williamstown Rural Lands Working Lands/Working Hands series of site visits and workshops designed to inspire creative avenues for strengthening local farm- and natural resource-based economies.

To brush up on your own gardening techniques and learn how you can support local farms and the beautiful landscapes that support them, register (for free) for this farm tour online at https://rurallands.org/events/whered-you-get-that-lettuce-bigfoot-farm/.
