The Science of Saw-Whet Owls

January 26, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Wednesday, January 26th @ 5:30 — 6:30 p.m.
Closed captioning will be available.

The Northern Saw-whet Owl (Aegolius acadicus) is one of the most common, and most elusive, predators in our backyards. These diminutive birds of prey migrate by the thousands through New England each year on their way to milder wintering ranges in the southern Appalachians.

Join Sean Beckett of the North Branch Nature Center— where researchers have captured and tagged over 600 migrating saw-whet owls in the last seven years — to discover what scientists are learning about the natural history and ecology of this adorable species, and where owls banded in Central Vermont have turned up around the country.
