Housatonic Heritage Walks with BEAT – A Walk Through An Old Growth Forest At Ice Glen Ravine

Location: Ice Glen Trail, Stockbridge MA

Join BEAT for a walk through one of the oldest forests in Massachusetts, where we will walk through a lush landscape of boulders, thick with mosses and giant trees. As we walk, we will talk about the natural history of the glacial ravine.

This trail is 1.5 miles, moderately difficult, and will involve some clambering over and around giant boulders. The length of the walk will take approximately 1.5 hours.

Meet at the Goodrich Memorial Park parking lot on Park St., which is 0.25 mile south of the Red Lion Inn, on Rt. 7. – GPS: (42°16’42.1″N 73°18’26.7″W)

This walk is part of the annual Housatonic Heritage Walks, which are FREE, guided interpretive walks to the most interesting, historical, cultural, industrial, natural, and scenic sites in Berkshire County, MA, & Litchfield County, CT. All ages & all people are invited to explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley.
