Housatonic Heritage Walks

Explore with knowledgeable & local historians, naturalists, and environmentalists at sites within the Housatonic River Valley: tours of historic buildings and town centers, hikes on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, walks through industrial heritage sites, a canoe paddling trip on the Housatonic River, bike rides on old country roads that have a history, behind-the-scenes tours at performing arts venues, and strolls through formal gardens and estates. All ages & all people are invited to join us!

9:30 AM–11:00 AM: The Civilian Conservation Corps at Pittsfield State Forest
10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Explore the Fauna, Flora, and Cultural History of Waconah Falls
10:00 AM–12:00 PM: A 15-mile Bicycle Ride from Cornwall to Falls Village
10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Chester Historical Factory Village Tour
10:30 AM–12:00 PM: A Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Tanglewood, Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Home
1:00 PM–2:00 PM: The Rise and Fall of the Ames Iron Works
1:00–3:00 PM: Explore the Fauna, Flora, and Cultural History of the Old Mill Trail
1:00–3:00 PM: A Cultural and Natural History Tour of Mount Greylock’s Summit
1:00–3:30 PM: A Woodland Hike from Gould Farm to the Berkshire National Fish Hatchery
1:30–2:30 PM: American Chestnuts, Lost and Found

The Housatonic Heritage Walks are a partnership between the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the National Park Service.
