Conservation Action Series: Think Globally, Act Locally

October 12, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

The twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss require both collective and individual actions – the concept of “think globally, act locally” is more important than ever. Join the National Parks Service (NPS) to learn how individuals can help parks and nature conservation by living more sustainably, volunteering, recreating responsibly, and motivating one another to take conservation actions.

“Think globally, act locally” has been a conservation mantra for decades – but is it working as a communication strategy? Or is it time for an “all of the above” strategy that elevates the value of both global and local actions to confront conservation challenges? What’s the role of individuals, communities, and landscape partnerships in addressing the biodiversity and climate change crises and how can the federal government help?
As conservation thought leaders, Doug Tallamy and Gary Tabor approach conservation challenges at different scales. Nonetheless, they come to the same conclusion that both small and large scale approaches to conservation are not only complimentary – but vital – to maximizing conservation outcomes. You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to hear both Doug and Gary share their insight and advice on invigorating conservation in the 21st century.
