Comment Period for Next Phase of PCB Cleanup

EPA will soon be making a decision on how to proceed with the cleanup of PCBs from the Housatonic River. In preparation for that decision, they have required GE to make its thoughts known in the form of a report. We are currently in a public comment period during which the public can submit its comments to EPA. After considering input from GE, the public, researchers, and other agencies and organizations, EPA will deliberate and then make a decision on how the cleanup should proceed.

Public comments are an important part of the process.  EPA really does listen.  This is why GE has lately been accelerating its public-relations activities, including distribution of a propaganda video, in an effort to enlist public support for their positions.  BEAT encourages all members of the community to submit comments to EPA during this public comment period that ends January 31.  Instructions for submitting comments by mail or by email are available on EPA’s website.

We at BEAT have been expressing our feelings and opinions about this process and about how we feel the cleanup should proceed on our blog.
