The sign-in tableThe trash included parts of TVs, computers, and an air conditioner; a file cabinet, a couch, two mattresses, a futon, about 13 shopping carts, 2 bicycles, and 18 bags of trash.Photo by Tom Foody, Pittsfield Highway Dept, who hauled the trash away to Covanta, who agreed not to charge the City as long as the volunteers separated it (metal, recyclable, etc.) Thank you!
TV & Computer partstires, part of an airconditioner, and more
TV and computers are a real disposal problem - you have to pay to get rid of them, but the Goodwill does take them. (Photo by Melinda Schneider)BEAT supports a manufactures take back program, where manufacturers would be required to take back their products at the end of their useful life to be refurbished or recycled. This is aZero Waste concept. As always, the trash included some tires.
