On April 19, 2000 Berkshire Community College filed a Notice of Intent with the Pittsfield Conservation Commission. The map submitted with the NOI was the same L-1 that had been submitted with the RDA.

No plans were submitted showing the location of proposed activities relative to the boundaries of each affected resource area. The endangered species habitat, certified vernal pool, floodplain, intermittent stream, pond, and bordering vegetated wetland delineations are not disclosed (all resource areas are marked “N/A” on the application). No DEP BVW field data forms are submitted. And again the map submitted with the NOI (labeled L-1) did not include the certified vernal pool, although the pool’s position is within the scope of the map. Also, there is no mention of the fact that the proposed project includes enlargement of existing fields and there is no mention of the fact that the proposed work, which included fill, would significantly change elevations. Still, Pittsfield’s Conservation Agent Caleb Mitchell did not question the fact that the wetlands (with which he has previously said he is familiar) are not on the map.
NOIProject Description: “Field No. 1: Irrigation, lighting, scoreboard, bleachers, and press box. Fields 1,2,3, & 4. Strip existing surface, Regrade, furnish and install loam and seed.”
