DESCRIPTION:Join Cathy Kristofferson of Pipe Line Awareness Network for the North East (PLAN-NE) and Rosemary Wessel of Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) for a presentation and discussion of the Constitution Pipeline’s potential impacts on the Northeast region. \nThe rise in demand for data centers is likely the most prevalent driving force behind proposals to build and expand pipelines across the country. The Constitution Pipeline would transmit natural gas from the fracking fields of Pennsylvania to a major pipeline hub in Wright\, New York\, just west of Albany\, where it would then be brought into New England. Pipeline expansion could spur the growth of data centers in New England\, with proposals for new locations at a scale of up to six times the size of the current largest centers. \nLearn about the market and political factors driving current gas transmission expansion and what the construction of Constitution Pipeline could mean to our local communities and the environment\, and what you can do to stop it. \nThis presentation is part of a series of community events throughout the region impacted by the Constitution pipeline proposal. SUMMARY:The Beehive Microgrid Model: Mobile Solar+Storage in New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:Prolonged power outages can result in a public health crisis\, especially during extreme temperatures\, with medically vulnerable or mobility-challenged people particularly at risk. In the wake of Hurricane Ida\, two dozen Louisiana residents’ deaths were attributed to the 10-day power outage that followed. In response\, New Orleans-based nonprofits Footprint Project and Groundworks New Orleans developed an innovative new model to help communities access reliable power during the next big disaster: the Beehive Microgrid Model. A Beehive consists of a “Hive”—a grid-connected microgrid powered by solar and energy storage (solar+storage)—and “Bees”—a group of mobile solar+storage trailers. Bees are charged and stationed at the Hive. During a power outage\, the Bees can be deployed throughout a region to support emergency response and recovery efforts\, providing reliable backup power for field operations. SUMMARY:Women's Water Walk: Stop the Constitution Pipeline
DESCRIPTION:On September 19\, 2026 the Women’s Water Walk will begin a two-week\, 113 mile prayer walk led by women through towns along the route of the proposed Constitution Pipeline in New York State.​​ \nThe Constitution Pipeline is a fracked gas mega pipeline proposed by the Oklahoma-based Williams Company\, which would run from northeast Pennsylvania to Schoharie County\, New York. Rejected in 2016 by New York State as a danger to our water\, the Constitution Pipeline project has returned to line the pockets of big corporations who want to overturn New York’s fracking ban. \nThe pipeline would cut through 125 miles of forests\, wetlands\, wild habitats and rural farm communities\, providing a corridor of power for AI data centers and deafening compressor stations that cause serious air pollution and acid rain. \nThe Women’s Water Walk\, which men are encouraged to join\, will begin outside of Damascus\, N.Y. and continue through towns along the proposed pipeline route. ​Our walk is rooted in prayer and positive action. We will sing as we walk and stop to make offerings at the many rivers\, lakes and waterways along our path. We will gather daily to discuss community solutions\, actions and legal frameworks to protect our land and water – focusing not only on what we seek to stop\, but also on what we are trying to build. \nWe invite teachers\, students\, farmers\, neighbors\, workers\, artists\, faith leaders\, elected representatives and all relations to walk with us. You can walk for a week\, a day\, or even an hour.
