Organization. Green Corps is the non-profit Field School for Environmental Organizing, founded by leading environmentalists in 1992 to identify and train environmental leaders. Our program includes intensive classroom training, hands-on experience running urgent environmental and public health campaigns, and placement in permanent leadership positions with leading environmental and social change groups.
Training. Our intensive classroom training features workshops such as Global Warming Strategy, Corporate Accountability Campaigns, Community Organizing Against Toxic Threats and Effective Media: Messaging and Framing. Workshops are lead by the nation's top environmental and social change leaders, such as Adam Ruben, Political Director of MoveOn.org, Bob Bingaman, National Field Director of Sierra Club, and Dolores Huerta, Co-Founder of United Farm Workers. Our field training puts you on the front lines of today's most urgent environmental campaigns.
Locations & Dates: We have positions open nationwide. The program begins in August 2006, with the Introductory Classroom Training in Boston, and concludes with graduation in August 2007.
Responsibilities. Plan and implement a series of critical environmental campaigns with groups like Rainforest Action Network,
Sierra Club and Defenders of Wildlife. You will secure media coverage, recruit and manage volunteers/interns, train new leaders, and mobilize grassroots pressure.
Career Development. Our graduates are in high demand and quickly find jobs working on issues they care about. Upon completion of the training program, Green Corps will connect you to organizations that are seeking full-time professional staff. Green Corps' graduates hold leadership positions with MoveOn.org, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Global Exchange, Rainforest Action Network, Natural Resources Defense Council, Friends of the Earth, ForestEthics, and many other environmental and progressive groups.
Qualifications. We will invite 25 recent college graduates to join Green Corps in 2006-2007. We are looking for people who are serious about saving the planet, have demonstrated leadership experience, and want to work for change over the long haul.
Salary & Benefits. Salary of $23,750. Optional group health care coverage, paid sick days and holidays, two weeks paid vacation, and a student loan repayment program for qualifying staff.

DCR SUMMER 2006 PARK FELLOWS PROGRAM 5/26
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking a select
group of 12 qualified and motivated college students eager to explore their
interest in park management and operations through a summer of work and
learning.
* Nine week program with rotations completed at different sites with a
variety of work experiences
* A DCR mentor assigned to each Fellow
* An orientation and mid-term gathering of all Fellows for shared learning
and project planning
* Park Fellow special projects, developed by each Fellow
* Both work and study at two sites in the park system in the following
areas:
- Operational overview of the Massachusetts State Park System
- Natural resources management
- Partnerships vital for building robust park programs
- Interpretive programs essential for connecting the public to our parks
- In depth look into facility management
* Hourly wage paid for work in the park system

* Letter of recommendation from faculty required
* Notification of Acceptance by June 1, 2006
* Fellowship begins with orientation on June 19, 2006

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, TPL, BOSTON
The Trust for Public Land has a position open for Research Associate to
assist the National Research Director in research, writing, technical
analysis, presentation of reports and data management for a national team of
conservation finance experts. The position is based in Boston, MA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor¹s degree or equivalent. Graduate degree emphasizing research a
plus. At least one year work experience. Excellent research, analysis,
presentation and writing skills. Skilled in internet research and Microsoft

Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust looking for Membership Coordinator
Position Description
Membership Coordinator
May 2006
General Responsibilities
The Membership Coordinator is responsible for tasks associated with managing Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust’s membership program, including membership acquisition plans, the membership database, communications, and events. The Membership Coordinator plans and implements membership tasks; is supported by the Development Committee, and is supervised by the Development Director (DD).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Membership Program:
- generate and implement annual membership acquisition plan, including annual goals
- manage and update membership data, including secure backups
- manage and process membership renewal process, annual appeal mailing, and other mailings
- manage and process membership and other donation thank yous (sent out within 48 hours)
- manage and process special thank yous, e.g in-kind and memorial gifts
- generate labels for mailings; coordinate mailings with mailhouse
- facilitate the updating of membership renewal and reminder letters with ED and DD
- facilitate revisions to informational literature, brochures, etc.
- analyze and report membership data for Development Committee, DD and ED (at least qrtly)
- coordinate planning and promoting (press, mailings) and follow up of events and activities
- communicate with other staff regarding membership events
- facilitate and assist with press release writing; distribute press releases
- coordinate newsletter and annual report production with staff, printer, and mailhouse
- layout and manage edits of draft newsletter and annual report for design consultant
- develop and manage volunteer program
- recommend and facilitate appropriate upgrades to membership database system
- coordinate web site construction and maintenance monthly
Board and Staff Support:
- prepare materials and refreshments for Development Committee meeting
- attend Development Committee meetings
- assist staff with development and program projects as needed
Administration:
- answer telephone; assist callers to extent possible, first backup to Program Assistant
- update membership policy and procedures manual
Qualifications:
Commitment to land conservation; four or more years’ membership program experience; strong database experience; computer proficiency, particularly Access and Quark (or their equivalents); excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; sense of humor, and considerate friendly manner.
The Stewardship Coordinator is a full-time (40 hours per week) position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION, MASS AUDUBON
Based at Mass Audubon Headquarters, Lincoln, MA
We are seeking a strong, experienced educator who is passionately committed
to environmental education and represents Mass Audubon¹s education as
central to the organization¹s mission and interrelated with our land
protection, conservation and advocacy priorities. He/she will anticipate and
identify emerging educational needs and opportunities relating to science
and the environment, which will then used to develop, modify, implement, and
evaluate educational policies, and practices for Mass Audubon. The Director
of Education needs to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and a willingness
to adapt to and facilitate organizational change as well as demonstrate an
ability to promote, respect and secure diversity of ethnic, cultural,
linguistic backgrounds and physical and mental abilities. He/she will work
collaboratively with other Mass Audubon senior staff across the state as
well as education leaders throughout New England to achieve Mass Audubon¹s
educational vision and priorities relating to policy and program
development, program evaluation, staff training, securing resources, and
operational management.
Desired qualifications include: Masters Degree or equivalent experience in
environmental education, biology or earth science or relevant field and at
least eight years of related experience in program development, evaluation,
and/or teaching in formal and informal settings. Strong knowledge of and
experience with public and private education and familiarity with state and
national education standards. Proven ability to develop, implement, and
evaluate educational programs in an ethnically and culturally diverse area.
Proven ability to develop, implement, and analyze plans and budgets as well
as to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to facilitate
complex, multi-dimensional projects while managing other duties and
responsibilities. Experience in the recruitment, management and development
of staff, especially among under-represented groups, and the ability to
organize, inspire, and support people with diverse skills and backgrounds to
create a common program or shared result. Strong computer and communication
skills (written and oral) including representation of the Society in public
meetings (including evenings and weekends). Ability to organize, inspire,
and support teams of people with diverse skills and backgrounds to create a
common program or shared result. A valid driver¹s license and the physical
capacity to travel frequently and extensively within the state and region.

Blackstone River Coalition Coordinator Position Available deadline 5/23
The Blackstone River Coalition (BRC) is a partnership of numerous organizations, businesses, municipalities, agencies and individuals working to restore the Blackstone River and to improve the Blackstone River watershed. The Blackstone River Coalition’s major focus is the Campaign for a Fishable/Swimmable Blackstone River by 2015. The BRC is seeking to fill the position of Coordinator. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with paid and volunteer team members on the implementation of the Campaign. This is a half time position with potential to expand with additional funding.
Major areas of responsibility are broken into the following three categories:
Project Oversight:
The Coordinator is responsible for tracking progress on various projects, which include the Campaign, Watershed-wide Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring and other key projects such as habitat restoration, dam removal, fish ladders, and storm water abatement.
Outreach:
The Coordinator serves as the liaison to local watershed organizations and other Coalition members, and establishes and maintains a communications network to further the goals of the Campaign. This person will work with team members to keep the website updated and to implement the public relations work plan.
Operations:
The Coordinator is responsible for completing the incorporation process, management of relevant documents, and appropriate reporting. This person shall also assist the team in securing additional funding for future and expanding BRC programs and projects and will perform administrative tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
· Interest in the environment and familiarity with the Blackstone River Valley
· Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
· Good organizational skills
· Ability to work well independently and as a team player
· Must have own transportation
· Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
· College degree in related field
· 2 years related work experience
This is a consultant position with a salary is $20 per hour.

Executive Director, Community Preservation Program

Public Land, Boston
The Executive Director of the statewide Community Preservation Coalition work closely with the Coalition Executive Board to encourage adoption and
implementation of the Community Preservation Act (CPA), a Massachusetts
state law that provides municipalities with dedicated funding for affordable
housing, historic preservation, parks and open space. The Director provides
public education and outreach to cities and towns contemplating CPA
adoption, tactical advice to local ballot measures, legislative advocacy to
protect and strengthen the program, and technical assistance to communities
that have elected to adopt CPA. The Director manages the Coalition's budget
and staff, provides research and policy recommendations to the Executive
Board and serves as primary press spokesperson. The Director is responsible
for raising a significant portion of the Coalition's annual budget of
$300,000.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the Massachusetts local and state legislative processes.
Experience with political campaigns, preferably ballot measures.
Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and decisively on complex projects with little
supervision.
Willingness to travel throughout the state, including frequent evening and
week-end meetings with local governments.
Proven ability to train, manage and mentor staff.
Graduate degree with emphasis on government, community development, historic
preservation, planning or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of related experience, including a demonstrated track
record in fundraising.
Experience with PC, including word processing and spreadsheets.
