Visions for the
West Branch of the Housatonic River

Crowd listens at Pitt Park While the Visioning process is explained

Urban River Visions 2, an initiative of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, selected Pittsfield as one of seven cities to help create a vision "to capitalize on the potential of underutilized riverfront sites".

Quite a crowd of people, mostly from the neighborhoods along the West Branch of the Housatonic River, gathered at Pitt Park in Pittsfield on Friday, May 11 to give their input into the Urban River Visions 2 Charrette.

The evening started off with an amazing performance by Youth Alive, Pittsfield's step dance and drumming performing group, organized by Shirley Edgerton. (For more on Youth Alive see the article in Berkshires Week) Youth Alive gave a fantastic performance before the Visioning Session started
People put sticky notes with suggestions on the aerial photos of the river area

There were different kinds of maps and aerial photos of the area from Wahconah Park down to Clapp Park, hung on the walls of the amphitheater. People gathered and put stickers on their houses or sticky-notes where they thought something should happen.
