On Saturday, June 9, 2007, volunteers arrived at the boat launch...
and signed in. The Great Barrington Conservation Agent, Elaine Hines, had a plan for the morning. And BEAT and HVA brought some supplies. There was coffee and donut holes to get ready for work.
We cleaned near the bridge on Brookside Road and then along East Sheffield Road.
Why do people throw trash over the bank?
There was a stove, half buried in the river, at the bottom of a very steep bank.
These three tugged and dug to finally get the entire stove out of the river.
The stove came up in pieces, along with lots of other garbage.
Some of the crew that cleaned that day.
The master at hauling stuff up the bank!
Anothe pile or two along the road. Elaine arrainged for fantastic sandwiches and drinks for the end of the day!
